During COVID times, we've transitioned to a house church / online worship hybrid. We're gathering in small, in-person home groups (in accordance with Section C of Washington State's latest guidelines). See our letter below for more info.
The past few months have brought lots of changes – for us as individuals, and to us as a church body.
Being displaced from our worship place in addition to the long list of COVID related restrictions has made it necessary to do some creative problem solving. Up until now, that has looked like renting worship space from other churches. Moving forward, we'll be doing something a little different.
For now, we'll be switching to a house church / online worship hybrid.
We realize that worship is complicated right now. There's not a great one-size-fits-all solution. To choose the typical, in-person Sunday service is to leave out those who are uncomfortable with or unable to gather publicly. To choose an online-only model is to leave out those who don't have access to or aptitude with constantly changing technology.
We've tried both of those things since the beginning of the COVID shutdowns in March, and both have left something to be desired.
In an effort to most effectively foster a community centered around fellowship and the teachings of Jesus, we'll be worshiping in the following ways:
Our primary meeting will be one or more small, living room gatherings on Sunday mornings. There will be an option to virtually attend and discuss via YouTube Live. For those unable to attend virtually or in person, there will be a short Scripture meditation and teaching available Friday of each week (available on our front page, or in the places linked in the box at the top of this page).
These changes (which may seem drastic) are an honest effort to best meet the needs of everybody in our faith community. Not everybody wants to come to a larger public gathering. Not everybody wants to do church exclusively over the internet. We're striving to keep our community connected in ways that are considerate of every person's health in body, mind and soul.
May all of our efforts to worship together be tuned to the key of these words from Paul:
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
